HarvardMUN Canada’s Tournament of Champions
What Is the Tournament of Champions?
The Canadian Tournament of Champions, hosted by HarvardMUN Canada, consists of three elite committees that will see the most competitive, academically rigorous, and intellectually stimulating days of debate as delegates vie for the inaugural 2026 Canadian Championship Titles. These committees are available only to delegates who qualify through one of Canada’s recognized qualifier conferences or who are selected through an extremely competitive application process.
HarvardMUN Canada’s Tournament of Champions represents the pinnacle of Model UN: drawing up real-world solutions that produce tangible impacts, engaging in multilateral discussions requiring advanced diplomatic and political skills, and competing to represent one’s delegation at the highest levels of Model UN. Winners of each year’s Tournament of Champions will have their names and photos permanently featured in the Hall of Fame and will receive an exclusive prize awarded only to champions.
Qualification at Our Conference
Because we are a regional qualifier for Québec, our qualification system differs from that of local qualifier conferences.
The top three delegates in each TOC-designated committee will qualify for the Tournament of Champions.
At local qualifier conferences, only the top delegate in a committee qualifies.
Delegates must earn one of the following awards in a TOC committee to qualify:
Sharon Rankin award for distinguished diplomacy
Irma Levasseur award for vision and innovation
Outstanding Delegate
TOC-Qualifying Committees
The following committees at our conference are officially designated as TOC-qualifying committees:
The World We Share: Preserving Heritage and Sustainability in Tourism
Petro-politics: Oil, Power and the Cold War
Delegates participating in these committees will be eligible for TOC qualification under the regional system described above.
TOC Ruleset for Qualifying Committees
As TOC-qualifying committees, General Assembly: Tourism and Specialized Agency: Petro-Politics will operate under HarvardMUN Canada’s Advanced Tournament of Champions Ruleset. This ruleset is designed for experienced delegates and places greater emphasis on policy feasibility, foreign policy adherence, and cost-conscious solutions.
Delegates should expect a more academically rigorous committee environment, with evaluation standards reflecting the expectations of national-level competition. The TOC ruleset prioritizes substantive debate, realistic policymaking, and the quality of ideas over bloc size or procedural dominance.
