Corporations have replaced governments, sovereign countries are reduced to puppet-states. Empires and coalitions are driven solely by profit. In the 1990s, the world dramatically shifted to a hyper-capitalist system that swallowed even the most resilient anti-capitalist states. After decades of conflicts, the US collapsed, and The New United States of America (NUSA) established itself as a weaker, highly fractured and divided nation, serving only as a reminder of its past glory.

The NUSA, controlled by Militech International Armaments megacorporation, competes with powerful autonomous former American cities. One of which is the unique Night City, located in what was known as California. It establishes itself as an international free City-State, in reality, a truly lawless place where megacorporations hunt for opportunities to monopolize anything they can. However, the Japanese Arasaka Corporation, one of the most powerful, influential and fearful supercorporations, remains the undisputed heavyweight of Night City as of 2077. In this context, a magnetic levitation train (maglev) has forcingly stopped in the middle of Night City! Officials confirm the incident to be a rogue AI hijacking. The Arasaka Corporation wants to secretly get their hands on the AI whereas Militech International Armaments, Arasaka’s rival corporation, aims to test their new destructive weapons by striking the train, ignoring the possibilities of civilian casualties. Moreover, Trauma Team International is dragged into this because it receives a distress ping from a Platinum Subscription Payer inside the train. As an overly capitalistic medical corporation, they must only prioritize saving the Platinum Member. Meanwhile, the Night City Police Department (NCPD) proceed to evacuate nearby citizens, while keeping the media from starting a city wide panic.

Delegates will play the role of profit driven individuals and juggle the clash of interests between massive multinationals while avoiding, or not, a radical escalation that risks jeopardizing the current balance of power in Night City.
